High-level Business summit on energy and climate change
In the framework of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change – COP 21, BusinessMed represented by its President Mr Jacques Jean Sarraf and its General Secretary Mrs Jihen Boutiba Mrad, attended the High-level Business summit on energy and climate change held at MEDEF headquarters in Paris, on December 8th and 9th 2015.
The summit was a great opportunity to meet representatives of Employers’ associations from all over the world, as well as BUSINESSMED’s European counterpart BusinessEurope represented by its President Mrs Emma Marcegaglia.
During the discussion meeting, President Jean Jacques Sarraf stressed on the need to preserve our planet through the strengthening of ecologically responsible companies and the promotion of innovative solutions that reduce carbon and greenhouse gas emissions.
A joint statement was signed by the different Employers’ unions across the world reflecting the position of the private sector in regard to the fight against climate change. Then, the signed statement has been forwarded to the President of the French Republic Mr François Hollande, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Laurent Fabius and the Minister of Environment and Energy Mrs Ségolène Royal.
Furthermore, Mrs Mariem Chaqroun Bensalah, President of the General Confederation of Enterprises of Morocco (CGEM) and member of BUSINESSMED, stated that the COP 22 will take place in Marrakech – Morocco, in November 2016. The event will focus on the mobilization and the special involvement of the private sector that plays a key role in the access to renewable energy and solar Plan.
