Tunis, Tunisia
02/07/2019 to 03/07/2019

"Business and Migration: Intensifying the Dialogue between the Private Sector and the Government" is the theme of the regional workshop organised in Tunis from July 2 to 3, 2019 by the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) in collaboration with the IOE.

This workshop saw the participation of BUSINESSMED represented by its President, Mrs Saida Neghza, who in her speech challenged the representatives of governments to involve the private sector in the development of migration policies taking into account the concerns of job providers and companies, major player in the labour market.

The workshop program was spread over various workshop sessions and roundtables. The preliminary session was reserved for employers' organizations and the second one was dedicated to the government-private sector dialogue. The participants discussed various topics, namely the impact of migration policies on business activities or the legal framework relating to immigration.

The main objectives of this meeting were to work on adapting the regulatory frameworks in the field of mobility training, development, the evaluation of competence recognition to the needs of companies and establishing functional migration networks, which will help to limit illegal activities including corruption and smuggling of migrants.
