BUSINESSMED invited to a webinar on global value chains and their role in the development of the member states of the Agadir Agreement
Within the framework of the program “Trade and Competitiveness” financed by the EU, BUSINESSMED was invited to participate in the Webinar “Global Value Chains for the development of comparative advantage in the Agadir Member States”, an event organized on December 10, 2020 by the Agadir Agreement Technical Unit, in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development –EBRD.
The symposium aimed to introduce the importance of value chains in the regional and global economy, and how to integrate Agadir member states in value chains, so that the outcomes of this symposium would be a future step for further contribution to achieving the sustainable development goals and promoting the integration of Agadir countries into the global economy and developing their exports.
The webinar was attended by experts from the ministries of foreign trade and industry, investment authorities and customs administrations in the member states, representatives of the European Union, experts from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, besides the private sector represented by the Agadir Business Council and regional institutions like BUSINESSMED.
The participants referred to the importance of integrating Agadir countries into global value chains to achieve higher growth rates and help increase productivity and reduce poverty and unemployment rates and the importance of enhancing the contribution of companies from the four countries in global value chains with the aim of diversifying production and achieving sustainable development.
