The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and BUSINESSMED are organising the digital event "Higher Education & Vocational training as tools for employability: Which strategies for the UfM region?" on 27 January 2022.

The event will bring together policy makers, private sector representatives, vocational training experts and higher education specialists from across the Mediterranean to reflect on how to identify strategies that could bridge vocational training and higher education in the UfM region, in order to increase the understanding and visibility of the proposed strategy among participants and to reflect on how to move forward to discuss and present proposals and possible pilot projects.

The meeting will also be an opportunity to facilitate the engagement of relevant stakeholders in developing immediate actions. The meeting is structured to discuss and present proposals and possible pilot projects, as a general reflection on how the UfM region could mobilise higher education and possible vocational pathways in the service of its objectives.

The joint reflection will result in a set of recommendations paving the way for the envisaged strategy, whose ultimate goal is to foster the employability of young people in the region and to address the skills mismatch, through a better connection between the two education systems, vocational education and training (VET) and higher education.
