BUSINESSMED part of the EU-OECD Advisory Group first meeting

BUSINESSMED took part the  31 of march  2022 to the first meeting of the Advisory Group of the EU-OECD Mediterranean Investment Programme in its second phase, in order to discuss the progress achieved and next steps moving forward. 

The Advisory Group gathered representatives from MENA economies, the European Union, partner institutions such as the ILO and the ITC, and other key stakeholders such the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean, the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and other regional organisations such BUSINESSMED bringing the voice of the Mediterranean private sector.

The phase II of the EU-OECD Programme on Investment in the Mediterranean aims to support investment climate reforms to advance sustainable growth and decent job creation in the Southern Mediterranean. The Programme’s implementation covers four years, from 2020 to 2024 during them the advisory group will be working together with governments and other partners in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, the Palestinian Authority, and Tunisia.

Implemented jointly by the Middle East and Africa Division of the Global Relations Secretariat and the Investment Division of the OECD Directorate of Financial and Enterprise Affairs, the Programme also benefits from co-operation with ILO and ITC.

This virtual event was organised around two sessions. Each session was followed by a plenary discussion with all participants. The aim of this meeting was to present the major activities conducted during the first year of implementation along with the next steps of the Programme. The event was also an opportunity to request feedback from policymakers.
