BUSINESSMED participated in the Regional Dialogue "Shared views on key issues in the Mediterranean" hosted by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) on 22 and 23 May 2019 in Barcelona. The conference brought together more than 100 representatives of civil society and youth organisations to discuss environmental, educational, social and economic challenges in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
BUSINESSMED took part in its discussions by being part of the working group on the economic, social & regional challenges faced by Women & Youth in the Mediterranean. Marco Cunetto, the EBSOMED project coordinator within the organisation, called in his speech to go beyond the false idea that Women cannot improve Mediterranean economic development and mentioned that the approach to gender diversity needs to be better integrated into trade agreements and the negotiations of the social dialogue.
The forum concluded with a series of recommendations aimed at fostering cooperation between the countries of the region on the various key priorities of the region. The discussions held during this regional dialogue as well as the recommendations and project proposals from the exchanges will be presented in the form of suggestions and project proposals in the framework of the Summit of Two Shores (Sommet des Deux Rives), to be held in Marseille on 24 June 2019, by presenting the views of young people and civil society organisations from the countries members of the UfM.
