BUSINESSMED participates in the Regional Seminar Horizon 2020
BUSINESSMED attended on 22 January 2019 in Fez, Morocco, the regional seminar Horizon 2020 organized by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), the Euromed University of Fez, the European Union delegation in Morocco and the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kingdom of Morocco.
The seminar, hosted on the campus of the UEMF, provided updated information on future funding opportunities under the Horizon 2020 programme, practical advice from Horizon 2020 project coordinators in progress, as well as concrete opportunities to consolidate or identify new Euro-Mediterranean research partnerships.
The seminar also addressed migration, factors & contexts of violent extremism, human dynamics of climate change, sustainable agriculture & food systems, and urban mobility. Around 130 participants from all around the Mediterranean met, exchanged ideas and worked on establishing business and research networks during the event.
In recent years, nearly 580 public and private entities in the southern Mediterranean have participated in collaborative research projects carried out under previous EU programs.
Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in research and innovation is of strategic importance for meeting the societal challenges facing the Mediterranean countries and therefore for European Union policies.
