BUSINESSMED Participation to the SIL 2016

BUSINESSMED, represented by Mr. Elie RIZK, President of the Lebanese Exhibitions and Conferences Association (LECA), and by its Secretary General, Mrs. Jihen BOUTIBA  MRAD, attended the 18th Edition of the International Logistic and material handling Exhibition (SIL 2016), and namely the Mediterranean Logistics and Transport Forum, which took place in Barcelona on June 8th 2016.

MEDA LOGISTIC 2016 is the annual platform and the referent of debate of the main sector topics across the Mediterranean, gathering at the same time the major players, stakeholders and companies of the logistic chain of Europe, Latin America and Asia.

BUSINESSMEDparticipation to the SIL 2016 was marked by the opening speech made by Mr. Elie RIZK, President of LECA, in the presence of eminent personalities of the transportation sector, namely Mr. Sixte CAMBRA, President of the Port of Barcelona, Mr. José LLORCA, President of Ports of Spain and Mr.Serafettin ASUT, President of Transport and Logistics Commission, ASCAME. Mr. RIZK stressed that in the framework of a new globalized economy, which requires an increasing mobility and new trade patterns, well-developed transport infrastructure is essential for the efficient functioning of the Mediterranean economy.

Mr. RIZK also highlighted that Cooperation must focus on development of an efficient Trans-Mediterranean multimodal combined sea and airport transport system, through the improvement and modernization of ports and airports, the suppressions of unwarranted restrictions, and the harmonization of environmental standards at a high level including more efficient monitoring of maritime pollution.

The forum represented an excellent high level platform gathering stakeholders and leaders of the maritime industries as well as an opportunity for BUSINESSMED to share best practises and explore new investment and development perspectives across the region.
