Conference on the promotion of business opportunities in Algeria
The General Confederation of Algerian Enterprises (CGEA) in partnership with BUSINESSMED organized a “Conference on the promotion of business opportunities in Algeria”, on February 27th 2016 in Algiers.
The Conference was marked by the presence of more than 500 businessmen, several Ministers as well as BUSINESSMED’s members and partners namely: the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon (CCIB-ML), The General Confederation of Enterprises of Morocco (CGEM), The Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Mediterranean (ASCAME), The National Chamber of Women Heads of Enterprises (CNFCE-Tunisia).
In the framework of his speech, BUSINESSMED’s President Mr Jacques Jean Sarraf alluded to the intensity of political risk in tough time that it is crucial to strengthen private sector initiatives in the south-south Mediterranean countries and to rely on existing bilateral and multilateral economic agreements.
In the framework of this high level event, the General Confederation of Algerian Enterprises held its General Assembly, during which Ms Saida Neghza, Vice President of BUSINESSMED, was elected President of the CGEA in succession to Mr Habib Yousfi, Honorary President of the Confederation.
Accompanied by a delegation of 10 Lebanese businessmen, President SARRAF met the Algerian Trade Minister Mr Bakhti Belaib, the Algerian Finance Minister Mr Abderrahmane Ben Khalifa as well as the Minister of Tourism Mr Amar Ghoul, on February 28th 2016. The purpose of these high-level meetings is to discuss the Lebanese-Algerian cooperation and the possible investment opportunities.
