The kick-off meeting of the project "B-Blue - Building the blue biotechnology community in the Mediterranean", of which BUSINESSMED is an associated partner, was held online on September 30, 2020, with the presence of more than 40 operators of the biotechnology sector in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

The exploitation of marine bio-resources through biotechnological solutions is a field with massive innovation potential and an opportunity for significant economic growth.  The B-Blue project aims to bring together actors in the sector and increase their innovation capacity and coordination in order to unleash the potential for innovation in this field through transnational initiatives, involving organizations from both shores of the Mediterranean.

The project also aims to create a multilateral coordination framework, based on a five-pronged inclusive approach, always including the socio-economic aspects of the environment in the decision-making process and drawing on a field of knowledge selected based on its potential to address GDSs at a medium level. The work of B-Blue aims to facilitate the design and implementation in the Euro-Mediterranean area of common and integrated plans, initiatives, programmes and policies to stimulate this sector.
