Participation of BUSINESSMED in the First Virtual Regional Meeting of the Policy Forum for Development (PFD)
BUSINESSMED participated, on 17 July 2020, in the first Virtual Regional Meeting set up by the Policy Forum for Development (PFD) whose objective was to collect and highlight the contributions of stakeholders in Africa.
The PFD planned a series of virtual regional discussions at regional and global levels to ensure that the views of its different stakeholders are expressed and taken into account. These actions are taking place as the EU addresses the COVID-19 pandemic, reinforces its commitments to Agenda 2030, outsources its key priorities (the Green Pact for Europe, digitalisation, sustainable growth and jobs, migration, governance, peace and security) and begins its new programming cycle.
This first webinar was dedicated to the Africa region and participants discussed the approach to be taken to ensure that these topics are taken into account in the current programming exercise, as well as contributions received following a consultation conducted by the PFD with over 360 members and their affiliates between April and May 2020.
The meeting started with a presentation and clarifications on the EU Programming exercise (2021-2027) following questions raised by the participants. PFD members then gave their recommendations and assessments of this new process and its implementation, focusing on key themes.
The PFD regional discussions will essentially serve to set the framework for the debate and will be complemented by written contributions from participants. BUSINESSMED will share its proposals with its members and include their comments and proposals and all contributions collected will be processed and structured around a set of PFD recommendations for EU programming that will take into account the unique aspects of each region.
