BUSINESSMED-INVESTMED Local Pitch Competition Event - Tunisia

The Mediterranean Basin is largely affected by a generalized economic slowdown, aggravated by the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, while urgent measures are needed in order to tackle common environmental challenges and untap the potential of natural and cultural resources to create sustainable growth and economic development. The important challenges in terms of competitiveness, sustainability, internationalization and capacity to innovate that Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) are facing in the region call for urgent action. Greening the economy and valorizing natural assets can provide both economic and environmental benefits in the region.

Aiming at addressing both economic and environmental challenges, INVESTMED will support new, sustainable business opportunities for young people and women in three Mediterranean Partner Countries (MPC): Egypt, Lebanon and Tunisia.

INVESTMED will impact both on the MSMEs, which staff will be trained and coached to become more competitive, and, on the relevant public authorities, whose capacities to facilitate access and protect intellectual property rights (IPR) to MSMEs will be reinforced.

In light of this, the INVESTMED project is launching a call for proposals to award a maximum of 38 subgrants to innovative MSMEs/start-ups/recently established enterprises with youth or women in managerial positions.

On July 6 and 7, 2022, BUSINESSMED will organize a local pitching competition in Tunisia.

This event will be an opportunity for 27 startups and MSMEs shortlisted from different regions of Tunisia to present their proposals and project ideas to an international jury composed of different project partners and local and European experts in order to raise funds of up to 20,000 euros allowing different enterprises working in the field of green, blue and creative and cultural of the economy and willing to implement new strategies, create new products or services or export their products to benefit from personalized support and a capacity building program designed by the Westerwelle Startup Haus Tunis.

This event will also be accompanied by additional activities and workshops that will aim to strengthen not only the INVESTMED community but also the creation of synergies and collaboration between other ENI CBC projects.
