Sea Green Economy for the Mediterranean: A valuable asset for Youth and its employability
How rich the Mediterranean world is! To favour the harmonious development of this Region with its rich historical past and with its promising future, the HOMERe consortium aims to build on the main potentials that are the Mediterranean Youth and the Blue Economy.
Mediterranean Youth needs to be confident in their future and in the future of the Mediterranean Region and must not remain frustrated by the lack in employability.
It is important that students can discover the expectations of the economic world thanks to a formation which permit them to better settle in the sea trades with the objectives of sustainable development i.e; in the Blue economy.
A large diversity in sea trades demonstrates major growth potential which is often underestimated. Port activities, maritime transportation, shipbuilding and repairs, fishery, aquaculture, residential needs, tourism, custom, safety, biotechnologies, ocean energy, cultural heritage are some sectors with large job opportunities. This requires a better attractivity and new skills in adapting vocational training to employment. Blue Economy is about a proactive approach for Sea Green Economy, an economy strongly committed to respect of environment, to climatic change and to societal responsibility with the respect of the cultural heritage of the Mediterranean area.
This colloquium aims to describe in practical terms the challenges of the Blue Economy regarding employability of Youth and sustainability. Thanks to contributors from a tenth of Mediterranean countries, concrete targets will be proposed to Head of State or Head of Government in the spirit of the “Sommet des 2 Rives” in Marseille, this June, to favour employability.
